It’s funny how mindfulness techniques can turn an otherwise stressful task into an opportunity to connect with yourself.
My family dog, Doofie, presents a challenge. He’s a lovely friendly dog, but as a rescue dog he has not been socialised with other dogs.
This had made walking him a difficult task as he shows aggression to other dogs, though he has improved greatly.
In the past I have treated walking him as an arduous task, felling stress and transmitting it through the lead to my poor canine – who in turn became more stressed.
I decided to treat our walks differently, and used them as an opportunity to practice mindfulness and it’s made the whole experience far more pleasurable for both myself and my troubled pooch.
